Coaching Tips to help you have a positive, productive and prosperous New Year:

1. Plan what you want to achieve in the NEW YEAR.

2. Make small achievable goals. Remember you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time.

3. Get a weekly calendar and start scheduling what you have to do. Remember to schedule time for you.

4. Schedule time to be “healthy”.
• Start walking 10 minutes a day and build up to more
• Drink more water
• Plan healthy meals (check out www.whatsweighingyoudown.com for recipes)
• Stop smoking

5. Get Organized! Organize your home, yourself and your family. Life is so much easier when you are organized.
• Look at your expenses and see where you can cut back
• Eat out less/eat at home more
• Paying a little more to your charge cards
• Barter services with friends
• Take one room at a time and organize it
• Sell, or donate things you have not used in 3-5 years
• Schedule family appointments on a calendar for all to see

6. Save all the change you have at the end of the week and put it in a large jar. At the end of the year see how much money you have

7. Look for ways to save money/sacrifice SOMETHING

8. Have a family night each week.

9. Keep a journal of gratitude and write in it each day at least 5 things you are grateful for.

10. Once a month have a family planning meeting. Determine what MUST be done, and write it down and post it somewhere for all to see.

11. Keep a TO DO LIST….so important!

EMOTIONAL EATING

Posted by Cecelia On December - 31 - 20105 COMMENTS
Hallelujah!  The TODAY SHOW just had RUBY (the woman who weighed 700 lbs) talking about her set back from losing weight.  I am so happy that she is out there telling the world about this problem.  You don’t have to be 700 lbs to be an emotional eater.

Emotional eating stems from  trauma, self esteem issues, and anxiety to name a few.  I believe it is memories both in the brain and body that stays with us until we are ready to let go and more forward.  80% of the people in this country are now dealing with emotional eating.  When times are bad, people look for comfort, immediate gratification, and security.  The easiest to turn to is FOOD.  We are programmed by the media to see how much pleasure you can have from it.  That is one of the reason our children are overweight.  They too are becoming emotional eaters.

Yes, you can eat healthy but as she said “she wasn’t addressing the emotional issues”! I once weighed over 425lbs.   I lost 168 lbs but it is hard to move forward if you don’t address the reasons why you are eating.  I am still doing my issues and moving forward.  Your body holds on to the weight until you let go of the emotions attached to eating.  That is way I am so pro active in wanting to help others to know that there is help and that they are not alone.

It hasn’t been easy but to me it is truly worth doing the work to find the real me.

A THANKFUL THANKSGIVING

Posted by Cecelia On November - 29 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Talk about something to be thankful for!  This Thanksgiving was going to be easy on me for a change.  Ordered the turkey dinner from Publix and I was just making some other side dishes. The table was set and it looked so festive.  I finished making my cranberry sausage stuffing and the cornbread just came out of the oven.  I was so please that it was 1:45pm and now to shower  before putting in the turkey  and the sides to warm up for dinner at 5pm.

I came out of the shower  and walked to the sink.  The next thing I knew I was on the floor.  Naked as a Jay Bird.  My leg under me and my body in a 12 on the pain scale.  Oh my God I thought how in the hell am I going to get up.  I laid back to get the towel I had.  All I kept saying there is NOTHING WRONG WITH ME!  I struggled and put the  towel under me and wiggled inch by inch into my bedroom.  When I got to the bed I thought I would try getting up but my left leg was too painful and I wasn’t sure what I did to it. I had to get to the phone to call my daughter to come and open the door and get me dressed before I called 911.  It took me an hour to get to the phone.

When my daughter got to me, she quickly put on a house dress to cover me before the ambulance came.  I called my “sister” friend too and she came over.  I told them don’t try to help me let the men do it.  I thought to myself that even thou I lost 168 pounds I still can’t get up.  I was embarrassed, mortified and helpless.  It’s interesting that the Universe puts us in those situations to get our full attention, isn’t it?

The paramedics came and the three young men assessed what happened.  They got my desk chair so they could push me to the stretcher.  The chair came and in a blink of an eye they got me up.  GOD I was so grateful and thankful for them.

They kidded that they hadn’t eaten.  I said to my daughter ”get them food before we go”.  They laughed and said “no we are taking you now.”

When I got to the hospital, they did x-rays of my shoulder and back, a CAT scan of my head and an EKG.  They banged my arm that was scraped and my toes.  I told my daughter to go since it would be a long time.  After me encouraging her that I was fine she left.  My sister friend and my friend who was coming to dinner came.

Finally the hospital said I could go home.  I was so thankful and grateful that I didn’t break anything.  I also was grateful and thankful that there are people who work on holidays and give up time with their family and friends to help others.  Plus having my family and friends to help me.  What a true gift I received.

The five lessons I learned from this is:

1.  If you live alone have your cell phone with you at all times.

2.  I need to start building upper body strength.

3.  It reinforced me to keep losing weight

4.  To be thankful for life itself.

5.  Stay positive and keep the negative thinking out of the mine.  By being positive and not thinking about the (pain), I focused on how much better I am today than I was yesterday and how great I will feel tomorrow.

The Light Bulb Moment

Posted by Cecelia On October - 9 - 20101 COMMENT

Yesterday I went to a meeting and realized that there were people there that still didn’t understand what I do.  How many times have you been in a meeting or workshop and knew a person, but really don’t know what they do.  You are missing out on help, information, or a contact you can use in the future because you don’t really understand what they do.

While there I had a LIGHT BULB MOMENT!  I realized that these people really don’t understand what I do as a Coach.  Well, if they don’t, then how would others who could use my help know?

I am a Certified Life and Strategies Coach, Certified Food Psychology Coach and a EFT Practitioner.  Some “Coaches” are not certified.  Anyone can call themselves a coach, but few are trained to be a coach.  Please think about this before you make any choice for using a coach.

3 1/2  years ago I weighted way over 425 lbs.  183 lbs later I want to help people to understand that food is not COMFORT, LOVE, PROTECTION, A STRESS RELIEVER and a replacement for SEX. I want to reach the people that still believe this way.  I was that person and understand what you are going through.

I am far from where I should weigh, but I am a work in progress.  I didn’t put it on overnight and it is not going to come off over night.   Yes, there are the “quick fix” ways, surgery, pills, and so called diets.  So far I have found the majority of people who do those things gain the weight back either all, some of it, or even more.  You ask why or believe I’m wrong.  Well, most of the people haven’t figured out why they were eating.

This is where coaching comes in.

1.  I work on finding out “who you are.”

  • Dreams
  • Hopes
  • Desires
  • If you need to see a therapist or other healthcare provider that can help us to get you where you want to be.

2.      What do you want in “your life?”

  • Personal relationships
  • Work
  • Creativity
  • Environment

3.      How to become who “YOU WANT TO BE”

  • Learning how to change
  • Learning how to think positively
  • Working together to obtain  your goals
  • Learning about trust, faith and hope
  • Learning about taking care of  your mind, body and spirit
  • Knowing I am there for you

4.      Learning to except the “NEW YOU”

  • Getting to enjoy who you are
  • Letting go of “old head talk”
  • Staying on track
  • Being grateful
  • And so much more

This is just a brief summary of what I do.  Now you know what a Certified Life & Strategies Coach, Food Psychology Coach does to help their client.

This is not a quick process, but it is a lifelong change for the better.
